About Higher Ground

Higher Ground is a three-year servant leadership training program specifically designed for high school students. Each year is focused on the various development stages of a servant-leader. First year students attend 7 days of summer camp. Second and third year students attend 14 days of summer camp (7 days of instruction and 7 days of experiential learning).  A student who desires to participate in the Higher Ground Servant-Leadership Program must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a strong desire to grow in his or her faith
  • Be actively involved in roles of service or leadership within his or her church, school, and community
  • Agree to participate in all learning activities
  • Assume personal responsibility for learning and practice
  • Have a Christian mentor
  • Be respectful to authority

They experience 7 days of instructional training, leadership activities and a healthy dose of exciting, recreational activities at Kids Across America. Campers also apply the principles of servant-leadership they gain at Higher Ground by participating in a one-day local service project. HG Year 1 is offered during KAA sessions 1,6 and 9.
